Bill Sutherland ’67 Humanitarian Award Recipient Announced

10/30/2024

In 2021 the Bill Sutherland ’67 Humanitarian Award was created by the Sutherland family in honor of Bill Sutherland, our legendary coach, administrator, teacher, and athlete. The award is presented each year at our annual Sports Hall of Fame, one of Bill’s favorite Notre Dame events. Bill himself was selected for induction into the Notre Dame High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995 – he is
the only Hall of Fame member to have the dual distinction of both athlete and coach.

The 4th Annual Bill Sutherland ’67 Humanitarian Award is presented to Charles Messina for his long time contributions and dedication to Notre Dame High School and her students. Charlie was a graduate of Notre Dame in 1962, served as a board member for many years, was an active leader in our successful capital campaign, and serves a leadership role in the bocce portion of our annual Golf/Tennis/Bocce Tournament.

Come support Charlie and the inductees this November 9! Tickets are being sold online. You can also reserve your seat by calling Jamie Meyer at (585) 343-2783 ext. 106.

Notre Dame Remembers

9/11/2024

On this tragic day, 23 years ago, the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil occurred. Two hijacked commercial jet airplanes were flown into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center, as a third commercial jet airplane was flown into the Pentagon, and a fourth crashed into a field in rural Pennsylvania.

This morning, we joined as a school community to pray for the three thousand people who died that day and for those individuals who are still grieving their losses.
In a special way, we pray for Melissa Vincent, a Notre Dame graduate, Class of 1990, who was working in the towers the day of the attack and was amongst those who lost their lives. She was 28 years old.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

O God of love, compassion, and healing,
Bring peace to this violent world,
Peace in the hearts of all men and women,
And peace among the nations of this earth.
Strengthen us in Hope,
And give us the wisdom and courage to work tirelessly for a world
Where people of all races are treated with dignity and respect
And may terrorism -- in all its forms -- disappear from the face of the earth.
We pray in Jesus’ name, Amen.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen.

Welcome Week Recap: A Joyful Start to the New School Year!

9/11/2024

As summer fades and the excitement of a new school year begins, our community came together for an incredible Welcome Week, filled with fun, faith, and fellowship. This year’s Welcome Week events provided a warm and supportive environment to ensure that our students and their families feel right at home.

New Student Orientation: A Day of Discovery
New Student Orientation provided incoming students with the opportunity to explore their new surroundings, meet teachers, and connect with their peers. After a quick breakfast and introductions, students were given locker assignments and walked their class schedule. We are thrilled to welcome such an enthusiastic group of new faces into our school community!

Family Picnic: Building Community
The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the Family Picnic. Parents, students, and faculty gathered on the school lawn to share a meal and enjoy an evening of back-to-school fun. It was a perfect chance for families to get to know one another, introduce themselves to teachers, and learn about all the different activities, departments, and happenings of our school.  The sense of community and togetherness was palpable, and the laughter shared during the picnic set the tone for the rest of the school year.

Special Opening Day Schedule and Schoolwide Mass
On the first official day of school, students and staff followed a special schedule to accommodate a beautiful schoolwide Mass. Students learned about our school’s values and traditions before participating in team-building activities. Coming together in prayer, we reflected on our shared mission for the year ahead, asking for guidance and inspiration as we embark on this academic journey. The Mass was a powerful reminder of the faith-based education that lies at the heart of our school’s identity.

Get Involved: Join a Club!
One of the best ways for students to make the most of their school experience is by getting involved in extracurricular activities. During Welcome Week, students were encouraged to explore the various clubs and organizations on campus. Whether their interests lie in academics, sports, the arts, or service, there’s a club for everyone! We encourage students to sign up for a club (or two!) and dive into new opportunities to grow, lead, and make lasting friendships.

As we move into the academic year, we’re excited for all that’s to come. Let’s keep the Welcome Week spirit alive by staying connected, supporting one another, and making this school year one of our best yet!

8/9/2024

Starting this September, Notre Dame will be implementing the Rediker Student Management System (SMS), along with ParentPlus Portal, to enhance your experience and involvement in your child's education.

The portal will replace the "Quick Links" section on the Home page of ndhsbatavia.com, but no worries! All the same information will be available through the portal.

Rediker is a leading educational software solution that will bring several benefits to our school community:
  1. Real-Time Access to Grades and Attendance: With Rediker’s ParentPlus Portal, you’ll have instant access to your child’s academic progress, including grades, assignments, and attendance records. This real-time access will help you stay informed and engaged in your child’s academic journey.
  2. Streamlined Communication: The ParentPlus Portal will offer an integrated messaging feature, allowing you to communicate directly with your child’s teachers and school staff. This will make it easier to address any concerns or questions you might have promptly.
  3. User-Friendly Interface: Rediker is known for its intuitive and easy-to-use interface, which means navigating the system will be straightforward and efficient for all users.
  4. Calendar and Scheduling Features: The system will include an integrated calendar that lists important school dates, events, and deadlines. You can sync this calendar with your personal devices, ensuring you never miss an important event.
  5. Secure and Confidential: Rediker is designed with top-tier security measures to protect your child’s information, ensuring that all data remains confidential and secure.
To ensure a smooth transition, we will be holding a series of informational sessions in late September to introduce you to the Rediker system. These sessions will provide a hands-on demonstration of the Parent Portal’s features and offer guidance on how to make the most of the tools available to you. A sign up sheet will be available at the Family Picnic on September 4!

We are confident that Rediker will significantly enhance our ability to support your child’s education and strengthen the partnership between home and school. Your involvement is crucial to your child’s success, and we believe that this new system will make it easier than ever to stay connected and informed.
