A Notre Dame Education is more than just academics; it’s a holistic approach that nurtures intellectual growth, faith formation, and real-world preparedness. Rooted in Catholic values, students are empowered to excel academically while developing moral character, leadership skills, and a strong sense of service.
Academic Excellence: Meeting and Exceeding NYS Diploma Requirements Students at Notre Dame receive a rigorous academic experience that aligns with the New York State (NYS) diploma requirements, ensuring they graduate with the skills and knowledge necessary for success. These requirements include:
All students are required to carry a minimum of 6 credits per a year and must successfully complete 26 credits (versus NYS' 22) to earn a Notre Dame High School Diploma. Notre Dame students complete at least one religious studies course per year and are required to complete at least three credits of world language. Faith-Based Learning and Religious Studies A Notre Dame Education is rooted in Catholic teachings. Students participate in religious studies courses including Catholic Citizenship, The Bible, World Religions, Catholic Social Teaching, and LEAD in Faith. This curriculum helps students develop a strong moral compass, guiding them in making ethical decisions throughout their lives. Christian Service and Community Engagement Faith in action is a key component of the Notre Dame education. Students are encouraged to live out their beliefs through Christian service projects, volunteering in their communities, and participating in mission-driven activities. These experiences foster empathy, social responsibility, and a commitment to making a positive impact in the world. Class Retreats: A Time for Reflection and Growth All Notre Dame students participate in spiritual retreats that provide an opportunity for self-reflection, personal growth, and deepening of their faith. These retreats help students strengthen their relationship with God and build strong bonds with their peers in a supportive, faith-filled environment. Real-World Life Skills for Future Success Beyond academics and faith formation, a Notre Dame education includes essential real-world life skills such as:

Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School had an amazing week celebrating our choice to attend a Catholic school! Below is an excerpt from the ND Weekly News- a Friday publications sent to parents of current students, as well as some photos from our week: As Catholic Schools Week comes to a close, I am filled with gratitude for all we shared as a school community this week. No doubt about it, our academics are important, but it is special days like this one, that remind me of the value in taking a break from the usual. Throughout this week, our students participated in meaningful experiences that strengthened their faith and deepened their connection with one another. Class retreats provided moments for reflection and spiritual growth, while our schoolwide prayer service at the start of the week and Mass at the end of the week, brought us together in worship and thanksgiving for the opportunity to attend Notre Dame. It was truly inspiring to witness our students living out the values we are working so hard to instill at Notre Dame. This unique activity day allowed students in all grade levels to interact with each other. Each time I saw a student help another up off the ice or watched as students cheered each other on in our gym, I was reminded that these are the days we build community, comradery, and character. I am so grateful for the dedicated teachers and staff of Notre Dame who continue to go above and beyond for our students. Thank you to everyone (pictured and not!) who make every day a special one at Notre Dame! Finally, thank you to our parents who made the choice to send your children to Notre Dame Jr/Sr High School. May we carry the spirit of Catholic Schools Week forward, continuing to grow in faith, knowledge, and love. Sincerely, Lindsay Warner, '01 Principal Archives February 2025 As Notre Dame joins the nation in honoring Black History Month, we invite students to participate in our Black History Month Essay Contest—a chance to reflect on the rich legacy, achievements, and impact of black history. Essay Prompt: "What Does Black History Mean to Me?" This is an opportunity for students to explore the significance of black history in their lives, communities, and beyond. We encourage personal reflections, historical connections, and creative storytelling that highlight the importance of black heritage and its continued influence today.
We encourage all students to take part in this meaningful celebration of black history. This contest is more than an essay—it’s a chance to share your voice, honor the past, and inspire the future. For more details, visit the counseling office during a study period. Let’s celebrate Black History Month together! Your browser does not support viewing this document.
