ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION CLUB
Environmental Action Club members are committed to raising awareness for the need to conserve natural resources and promote recycling. Once a week, members collect paper from all classrooms and offices for recycling. We are part of the Abitibi program, which allows us to earn money for the paper we collect from the school and the community.
The purpose of Mission Club is to put our faith in action by organizing and carrying out activities that benefit people in need such as the Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Christmas Angel Tree. In addition, club members and chaperones have the opportunity every other year to travel to the Romero Center in Camden, New Jersey for a weeklong service learning trip. Students may join at any time during the school year.
Students work on fictitious trial cases and portray courtroom lawyers and witnesses in simulated trials competing against other schools each March in real courtrooms. This gives students a better understanding of the common law trial process and the underlying values while strengthening their analytical, critical thinking and team work skills. All interested students are encouraged to join.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors whose cumulative grade point average is 90% or higher and who demonstrate exceptional leadership, service, and character will be invited to join the Notre Dame Chapter of the National Honor Society.
SADD is a peer leadership organization dedicated to preventing destructive decisions, particularly underage drinking, other drug use, impaired driving, teen violence and teen depression and suicide. Our chapter is part to Genesee Countywide SADD. We regularly participate in the countywide meetings and activities. Our Notre Dame SADD chapter is open to all students. Membership requires that students sign the SADD National Pledge, attend meetings and assist with projects. Meetings occur 6 to 10 times per year and are held during homeroom. Students may join SADD at any time, by simply attending a scheduled meeting.
The Sacristan’s Club does the behind the scenes work of liturgy. They write the Prayer of the Faithful for school Masses, organize and direct the setting up of the gym for Masses, and keep our chapel clean and organized for prayer. Students may join at any time and need not be Catholic.
