Spiritual

Community Service Opportunities

Our primary function is the continual development of faith among students, staff, faculty, and parents. Our Campus Ministry devotes itself to promoting spiritual, liturgical, and missionary welfare. We provide various activities including school liturgies, yearly retreats for each class, pastoral counseling, and Christian service programs.

Class Retreats

Class retreats are held yearly:

  • 9th grade- part of the Camp Hough freshmen experience during the first week of school in September
  • 10th grade-October of each year
  • 11th grade-varies
  • 12th grade-overnight at Harvest House in May of each year
  • Staff retreat is held annually on the Feast of All Saints, November 1st

Christian Service

Notre Dame's mission statement challenges us to prepare young people to serve in an ever-changing world. We believe that service to ones community is an integral part of Christian life and therefore, our program is a graduation requirement. Each student is obligated to complete the following:

  • 9th grade: 10 hours of service (at least 5 of the hours must be with a church or church based organization; the remainder may be chosen from the preapproved list; other ideas require preapproval
  • 10th grade: 12 hours from the preapproved list or with approval
  • 11th grade: 15 hours from the preapproved list or with approval
  • 12th grade: 20 hours from the preapproved list or with approval

All hours must be properly documented and submitted to the Campus Ministry office. Each student will be required to write a reflection paper each year under the direction of the Theology department.
