Principal’s Message

Dr. Joseph D. Scanlan ‘65

Welcome to the Notre Dame High School web site and thank you for taking the time to learn more about the Notre Dame experience . . . the start of something great!

Notre Dame High School, ranked the #1 Private Co-Educational High School in Western New York by Buffalo Business First for the 3rd consecutive year -  2008, 2009, and 2010 -  continues to offer students in Genesee and surrounding counties a solid college preparatory academic foundation as evidenced by our:

  • Unsurpassed college preparation rates [99% of ND graduates are, on average, college bound]
  • 3rd consecutive year in Business First’s “Top 10” secondary high schools in Western New York [9th out of 133 high schools – both public and private – for 2010]
  • 3rd consecutive year as the #1 ranked high school [public and private] outside of Erie County
  • College scholarship earnings - The Class of 2010 earned 5.5 MILLION DOLLARS in scholarship assistance over four years of college!
  • 6th consecutive year of recognition in the Top 10 Private Schools in Western New York by Buffalo Business First!
  • 16 of 17 Varsity level teams have achieved NYSPHSAA Scholar-Athlete status [minimum 90% team average] for four consecutive years [2007-2010].

Students who attend Notre Dame experience a small school environment with large school opportunities. Our students are able to earn up to thirty-eight [38] units of college-approved credit by successfully completing college level course work and Advanced Placement courses as juniors and seniors, and are also able to participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities and tradition-laden Genesee Region, Section V and NYSPHSAA interscholastic athletic teams while having the ability to excel at whatever they choose to participate in.

Students are able to experience an ideal climate for learning in a safe, orderly, “old school” bully-free environment. Students are free to be themselves and accepted for who they are in a values-rooted faith environment. Small class sizes enable all students to be known, recognized for their talents and treated as members of the ND family.

Please feel free to contact me to arrange a “face to face” visit and tour of our facilities. I can be contacted at [585] 343- 2783 ext. 107 or at Joseph.Scanlan@ndhsbatavia.com.

Prospective students interested in visiting ND as our guest during an actual school day are encouraged to arrange a “shadowing” experience during which time interested students are paired with a current ND student during a typical school day. Please feel free to contact our Assistant Principal, Mr. Michael Rapone at [585] 343-2783 ext. 104 or at Michael.Rapone@ndhsbatavia.com to arrange a shadow experience!

We honestly believe that the Notre Dame experience is one that you cannot afford not to invest in. Thank you, again, for visiting our web site to learn more about the Notre Dame experience!
