P.O.N.D.
P.O.N.D. is an acronym for Parents Of Notre Dame. It was originally created to be a communication conduit between parents and the school but has blossomed into much more. Attending a P.O.N.D. meeting is a good way to learn what is going on at Notre Dame and how you can help to enhance your family’s experience!
Some key points about P.O.N.D. are:
-Provides scholarships for Notre Dame students
-Provides a link between parents of ND students to welcome them and help them acclimate to ND
-Participates in one major fundraising concept each year – that has been the Darien Lake concerts (3-6 per summer) - and we have raised in excess of $65,000 over the past 6 years
-Provides refreshments for various ND functions i.e. Parents as Students Night, Family Mass, Celebration of Gifts and Talent
-Oversees the operation of the ND Bookstore
-Supports our teachers/staff through teacher appreciation activities
-Provides information to parents through occasional programs (i.e. in the past we have had a safe homes presentation in the fall and a spring – prom safety/drug and alcohol update through GCASA). Shares information with the school newsletter to update parents
-Family volunteer hours are credited for each activity, including P.O.N.D. meeting attendance (our sign-in sheet will be given to the development office)
-Fosters
a “family environment” at
Parents are
welcome to attend regular
standing meetings held the first Monday of the month unless it is a
holiday –
then the second Monday of the month. Meetings are held in the cafeteria
for
approximately one hour (7:00 – 8:00 p.m.).
